Mike Hettinger is a rocket-scientist by training and an environmentalist by conviction.

MIKE is a long-time resident of O'Connor and has lived in the electorate of Molonglo (Turner, Ainslie, Hackett and Kingston) since migrating to Australia from the United States 16 years ago. Canberra is his home. He is passionate about environmental issues and protecting Canberra's unique parklands.

MIKE strongly believes that environmental issues should be at the forefront of government, and this is why he is seeking election.

MIKE is very active in community environment groups including Save the Ridge, Planning the ACT Together and the Conservation Council. He gets his hands dirty at Greening Australia outings and rides with Pedal Power.

MIKE earns his living as a Commonwealth Public Servant, and is an active member/delegate of the Community and Public Sector Union. MIKE has worked in the Australian Space Office and received the Australia Day Achievement Medallion for his work on the development of a space industry in Australia (1999). MIKE is presently working in the Department of Education, Science and Training and recently helped establish the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre.

MIKE holds a Bachelors Degree in Physics (Holy Cross College) and holds a Masters of Public Administration (University of Colorado) as well as a Masters in International Relations from the Australian National University (ANU).

MIKE likes the occasional drink, whether at the local Labor club or at a Hash House Harriers run.

MIKE believes that Canberra's unique environment needs preserving for future generations and hopes to make a contribution to the community through being elected as your ALP representative in Molonglo.

For a smarter, greener Canberra,
MAKE IT MIKE.
